Logistik Industrial Park, located in the municipality of Villa de Reyes, San Luis Potosí, hosted a working session that, for the first time, brought together industrial leaders, government authorities, and academic representatives with the goal of strengthening institutional coordination and promoting the sustainable development of the automotive sector in the region.

The meeting took place inside the industrial park, specifically at the BMW plant, where participants discussed strategic issues related to infrastructure, mobility, logistics, and quality of life for workers across the industrial zone.

Villa de Reyes: a key industrial hub in San Luis Potosí

The municipality of Villa de Reyes has consolidated its role as one of the state’s main economic engines. It currently generates:

  • 29% of San Luis Potosí’s gross production
  • 11% of the state’s total wages and salaries
  • 7% of total employment

This industrial growth has attracted major automotive and manufacturing companies, positioning the region as one of the most relevant industrial hubs in the Bajío.

Mobility and sustainability goals toward 2030

During the session, participants defined concrete goals to improve mobility and sustainability conditions across the industrial zone.

Among the commitments discussed were:

  • Reducing commuting times by 50% by 2027
  • Expanding multimodal public transportation options
  • Reducing CO₂ emissions by 30%
  • Reaching zero deaths associated with vehicle accidents by 2030

These measures are intended to ensure that the region’s industrial expansion is matched by better mobility, safer transportation, and improved quality of life for workers.

Industry, academia, and government shape a long-term agenda

The working session included leading figures from the automotive industry, among them Klaus von Moltke, CEO and President of BMW Group Plant San Luis Potosí, and Engineer Julio García, Executive Director of General Motors de México Plant San Luis.

Representatives from the World Trade Center San Luis Potosí, academics from the Universidad Autónoma de San Luis Potosí, as well as plant managers, government affairs directors, and human resources leaders from 45 companies, also participated in the discussion.

The event was supported by organizations such as UUZI and Aderiac RH, which are promoting an industrial mobility agenda aimed at strengthening economic development and improving the quality of life of those who live and work in the region.

Logistik Industrial Park as a platform for industrial coordination

Hosting this meeting at Logistik Industrial Park reinforces the role of industrial parks as strategic spaces for dialogue among industry, government, and academia.

Initiatives like this help advance a more organized, sustainable, and competitive industrial growth model, aligned with the logistics and environmental challenges facing Mexico’s automotive sector.
