LG announced an investment of MXN 3.5 billion to establish a new plant in Querétaro focused on the production of cameras, LEDs, motors, and automotive components. In its first phase, the project will generate 630 jobs, with projections to double this figure in the short term.

The announcement took place during a working meeting led by Governor Mauricio Kuri González, who emphasized that the arrival of a world-class company strengthens the state’s position as a reliable destination for investment and the creation of quality jobs.

Expansion of Korean capital in Querétaro

The LG delegation was led by company president Taekjoo Lee, accompanied by Chief Financial Officer Kyein Shin; Safety and Hygiene Manager Rin Kim; and Human Resources Manager Víctor Hugo Arroyo Jamaica. During the meeting, the governor thanked LG for its trust in Querétaro, noting that the state offers the right conditions to host high value-added projects.

In a video message, Kuri González highlighted that this new investment will support the creation of well-paid jobs and bring new technologies to Querétaro’s productive ecosystem.

“The first phase will have more than 630 employees, and in a short time they plan to double and continue growing employment. The truth is that in Querétaro we know the best social program is employment. The arrival of globally recognized companies confirms that here in Querétaro we have the best talent,” he said.

Diversification of operations in Mexico

It is worth noting that LG, a Korean company, already operates a plant in San Juan del Río, employing 600 workers. With the opening of this new facility, the company will significantly increase its presence in the state and reinforce its role as a global supplier for the automotive and electronics industries.

The firm has consolidated its position in the manufacturing of electronic components and materials for various industries, including automotive, mobile devices, consumer electronics, and the Internet of Things (IoT). Among its areas of specialization are camera modules, displays, semiconductors, and automotive lighting solutions.

Technological innovation and the future in Querétaro

Beyond its production capacity, LG is advancing Industry 4.0 technologies, with projects related to 5G/6G connectivity as well as the development of electric and autonomous vehicles. The installation of its new plant in Querétaro positions the state as a strategic hub for the adoption and manufacturing of next-generation technological solutions.

With this investment, Querétaro strengthens its appeal as a destination for foreign direct investment and positions itself as a key center in the global supply chain, combining specialized human capital, technological innovation, and business confidence.
