JTEKT Automotive Mexico began its expansion operations in its production area, where it will manufacture more modern automotive steering systems.
To achieve this expansion, the Japanese company invested nearly 50 million dollars , and its objective is to open up to exports in the United States, Japan and Canada.
Likewise, the capital injection represents the generation of more than 170 direct jobs in San Luis Potosí.
Silvestre Mendoza Huerta, vice president and plant manager of JTEKT Mexico, stated that since the company came to the entity in 2015, they have been growing constantly, so they already have 12 production areas and 550 associates.
The Japanese company began producing a single product for an automotive customer and now produces automotive steering systems for five brands , which are vehicle assemblers both in Mexico and abroad.
“We embarked on the development, construction and commissioning of one of the most technologically advanced systems, in terms of assisted steering systems. This technology is the same one that will be used as the basis for self-steering cars,” he stated.
It should be noted that in July 2021, JTEKT Automotive Mexico announced the injection of capital for the expansion of its plant in San Luis Potosí , assuring that it would be a larger project in the North American region, since they would be applying new technologies in the existing production lines , with the intention of generating more modern products for its customers.
