December 27, 2025
Querétaro closed 2025 with results that reaffirm its national economic leadership, consolidating its position as one of Mexico’s most dynamic and competitive states, reported Marco Antonio Del Prete Tercero, head of the Secretariat of Sustainable Development (SEDESU), during the agency’s annual performance review.
The state ranked third nationwide in labor formality, with a rate of 60.5%, and sixth in employment generation per capita—indicators that reflect a favorable environment for productive investment, business growth, and the creation of formal jobs.
Investment and Job Creation Strengthen Competitiveness
Regarding foreign direct investment (FDI), Del Prete highlighted that from 2006 through the third quarter of 2025, Querétaro accumulated USD 19.317 billion in FDI. He also noted that the state ranked first nationwide in FDI contribution during 2025, confirming its strong appeal to both domestic and international investors.
Throughout the year, 53 investment projects were finalized, representing more than MXN 30 billion and generating over 10,220 jobs. By year-end, the project pipeline included 46 additional initiatives totaling MXN 74.87 billion, with the potential to create 12,734 new jobs.
Regional Development and Business Promotion
The international positioning of Querétaro-made products advanced through the participation of local entrepreneurs in trade fairs such as Foodex in Japan and SIAL in Toronto, opening new commercialization opportunities in global markets. Additionally, the Calidad Querétaro certification brought together 65 companies at its first Expo, highlighting innovation, competitiveness, and social responsibility.
The 2025 Industrial and Commercial Business Expo generated an economic impact of MXN 3.6 billion, attracting more than 5,700 attendees and facilitating 7,800 B2B business connections, consolidating its role as one of the state’s leading business networking platforms.
Connectivity and Long-Term Vision
In terms of air connectivity, Querétaro International Airport handled 2,181,893 passengers from January to November 2025, representing a 17.6% year-over-year increase. Air cargo reached 75,248 metric tons, up 6.3%, positioning the state fourth nationwide in cargo movement.
These results, Del Prete emphasized, confirm that Querétaro continues to advance under a sustainable, long-term development vision—strengthening its productive base, attracting investment, and generating formal employment that reinforces its economic leadership.
