The Government of Nuevo León, through its Ministry of Economy, announced the inauguration of Hyundai Mobis’ expansion in Pesquería, marking a milestone as the state’s first electric vehicle (EV) battery plant. The new facility represents an investment of $28.6 million USD and will generate more than 200 new jobs, reinforcing Nuevo León’s position as a national leader in automotive innovation and advanced manufacturing.

Driving industrial transformation through electromobility

Hyundai Mobis’ new operation will supply cutting-edge battery systems to global automakers, contributing to the region’s rapidly growing electromobility ecosystem. With its strategic location in Pesquería, the plant strengthens the state’s integrated automotive corridor, which has become a magnet for foreign investment and a key driver of Mexico’s participation in North America’s electric vehicle value chain.

During the inauguration, Betsabé Rocha, Nuevo León’s Secretary of Economy, highlighted the importance of this expansion as a reflection of the state’s commitment to fostering technological development, sustainability, and industrial competitiveness.

“This project represents the type of innovation that propels Nuevo León forward — a state that continues to lead Mexico’s transition toward cleaner and more efficient mobility solutions,” she emphasized.

Innovation at the heart of Nuevo León’s growth

The expansion of Hyundai Mobis aligns with the state’s broader strategy to promote high-value manufacturing, renewable energy integration, and workforce development in emerging sectors such as electromobility, aerospace, and advanced materials.

As part of Nuevo León’s thriving industrial ecosystem, the project strengthens collaboration between global corporations, local suppliers, and academic institutions — ensuring that innovation continues to drive economic growth and sustainable progress in the region.
