How Many Vehicles Did Mexico Export in 2024 and Where Were They Sent?

Mexico stands out globally as the sixth-largest exporter of light vehicles. In 2024, the country recorded a 5.4% increasein vehicle exports, reaching 3,479,086 units, compared to 3,300,876 in 2023, marking a historic record.
According to the report on the Administrative Registry of the Automotive Industry of Light Vehicles (RAIAVL) by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi), this increase represents 178,210 additional units compared to 2023. The United States was the top destination, accounting for 79.7% (2,771,287 units) of the total exports. Other key destinations included Canada with 8.5% (294,176 units); Germany with 3.6% (126,435 units); Brazil with 1.2%(40,561 units); Colombia with 0.9% (31,343 units); and 6.1% (215,284 units) shipped to other countries.
In 2024, the Mexican automotive industry surpassed its 2017 production record by manufacturing 3,989,403 light vehicles, with 87% destined for export markets.
The brands leading the export numbers were:
- General Motors: 830,820 vehicles
- Nissan: 456,866 vehicles
- Ford: 379,849 vehicles
- Stellantis: 353,307 vehicles
- Volkswagen: 326,217 vehicles
- Toyota: 245,121 vehicles
- Honda: 232,433 vehicles
Notably, Honda experienced a 50% increase in export volumes compared to 2023, when it shipped 154,255 units.
