Highlights the municipality of Querétaro in generating new jobs

At the end of 2019, the municipality of Querétaro reported 20,858 new jobs, which means 24% more than those registered in 2018, said the Secretary of Sustainable Development, Genaro Montes. In this sense, 67.2% of employment in the state was contributed by the municipality.

He added that in the last five years 106,258 jobs have been generated in the municipality, equivalent to 3.3% of new jobs created nationwide in the same period.

About the average salary, he explained that the city maintains an average of 13,245 pesos, that is, 15.2% more than the national average and 3% more than the state average.

Also, he informed that the economically active population is made up of 400,563 people, of which 71.3 work in shops and services. 71.3% of this population is employed in companies in the tertiary sector, 28.4% in the secondary sector and 0.2% in the primary sector.

On the other hand, the Mexican Social Security Institute reported that in 2019 the number of affiliates grew 5.5%, while in the last five years the growth was 27.2 percent.

Thus, Querétaro occupies the third place for opening workplaces, only below the San Angel and Polanco subdelegations in Mexico City, Genaro Montes said.

They are followed by the subdelegation Piedad Narvarte, in Mexico City; Zapopan, in Jalisco; sub-delegation Santa María de la Ribera, Mexico City; Culiacán, Sinaloa; Churubusco sub-delegation, Mexico City; and Chihuahua, Chihuahua.

"These figures speak of how the difference is being made in the city of Querétaro and how it is impacting nationally, including competing in job creation with other states of the republic," said the secretary.

EMPLOYMENT EXCHANGE

The Municipal Employment Exchange program, which seeks to link the population with companies from all sectors, placed 14.9% of workers in 2019, which translates into 3,099 new jobs, where professional, technical, operational levels are considered and administrative

"Something very important is how employment, and it is something that is mentioned, is not contributed directly by the municipality, employment is provided by investors, the private sector and the people they undertake."

According to figures from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography, during 2018 the municipality of Querétaro contributed 2.4% of the national Gross Domestic Product (GDP) with 413,808 million pesos, which in turn means 60% of the state GDP, Genaro reported Montes.

Of this figure, 57.6% corresponds to tertiary activities, 40% to secondary activities, and 2.4% to tertiary activities.
