HELLA increases production in Guanajuato

In order to strengthen
its positioning in the automotive and spare-parts industry of the American
market, the company electronicos Hella opened a new plant in Guanajuato.
This time they
chose the municipality of Apaseo el Grande to settle their factory, which will
be specialized in the production of body control units, for electronic assisted
direction and remote keychains, among other products.
The German company
underlined that with this new investment they pretend serving regional
customers to strength their presence in North America, in which it has
increased 15 percent.
This new plant has
an extension of 11,000 m2 and at the beginning they are planning in
employing 250 people until reaching 650 employees by the end of its expansion.
Gerold Lucas,
operations manager at Hella Electronics, said that the company arrived in
Mexico in 1964, where they currently have 6 production plants, three of them
are in the State: Irapuato, San Jose Iturbide and Apaseo el Grande. In addition, the company has more than 7,000
collaborators in Mexico; from which 3,000 are in Guanajuato.
Also in the
country are two design and development centers, one is focused in the creation
of lighting products and the other in electronic components.
“A while ago in
Germany I was asked about which are the advantages Hella has found in
Guanajuato and have confirmed that it is the work quality of technicians, their
promoter and innovative spirit, and its geographic location,” he said.
Joerg Weisgerber,
CEO of Hella Electronics Norte and Sudamerica, emphasized the commitment of
continue creating quality products for the industry in Mexico, positioning the
country as one of the most important growing markets for the company.
“We would like to
be a reference framework and continue investing in the best manufacturing
technology. Neither of that will be
possible without Hella team and Guanajuato.
I thank the work being done by all in order to make this new
Electronicos II plant possible,” he underlined.
Hella continues to trust Guanajuato
Guillermo Romero Pacheco,
head of the Ministry of Sustainable Economic Development (SDES, by its Spanish
initials) said that Hella Electronics has invested in the State more than 150
million dollars, since its arrival in 2008 to San Jose Iturbide, in 2012 to
Irapuato and in 2014 with the expansion of this plant.
“It is a very
strong investment which will complemented among all its plant and at the moment
they reach the jobs they have proposed on their planning, if they exceed it,
this will be good news,” he said.
He also underlined
that the application of technology in the processes and products are according
to industry 4.0 and recognized the high preparation level of engineers and
technicians working at the company.
Hella is currently
one of the 40 main auto-parts supplying companies worldwide and one of the 100
largest companies from Germany.
Worldwide it has
customers such as Audi, Volkswagen, Daimler, BMW, General Motors and
Renault-Nissan.
