The
relationship and commercial ties that Harlingen , Texas has with Mexico, will
be strengthened with the appointment of Orlando Campos as the new president, of
the Economic Development Corporation (HEDC), which has carried out various
efforts in recent weeks to highlight the economic advantages and skills of this
city.
The
presence of industrial parks, the consolidation of manufacturing and logistics
companies, the connection to interstate highways, international bridges,
airports and cargo ports, are some of the points that stand out in the
promotions, aimed at business leaders, authorities and members of organizations
or groups that promote business.
“What we are looking for is to take the economic development of Harlingen to another level, take advantage of all the infrastructure that already exists to promote the arrival of new investments, but also prepare ourselves to take advantage of the nearshoring that is coming to Mexico and that we seek to replicate here, through from the improvement of spaces, to create new sites for the industries; We have a good outlook, but we need that international cooperation and link,” Campos mentioned.
Orlando's experience and knowledge in the economic development of Texas will be a trigger to achieve this objective, having held similar positions in various cities of Rio South Texas such as Brownsville and previously in Harlingen, as well as in Dallas, where his performance was characterized by giving response to the main needs of industries, business prospects, as well as companies in general.

“The
city of Harlingen is very close to the border with Mexico, so it is very
important for us to maintain that contact, we are currently in a world economy
scenario where there are no borders, in recent weeks I have been reconnecting
more, working as a single region."
The
key moment for investments is now, with the relocation of companies that have
generated investments in Mexican states such as Nuevo León, Coahuila and
Tamaulipas, which will cause an increase in export and import processes, said
the CEO of HEDC .
"On
the Mexican side, the investments that have been confirmed in recent months are
extremely large and we are sure that there will be a great impact in South
Texas. In the case of Harlingen, we have international bridges with Tamaulipas
that facilitate all trade processes" , he concluded.
