Harlingen EDC Strengthens Economic Ties with Matamoros During Commercial Mission

The Harlingen Economic Development Corporation (Harlingen EDC) recently participated in a commercial mission to Matamoros, Tamaulipas, aimed at bolstering alliances and collaboration for economic and industrial development in the region.

Led by CEO Orlando Campos and Operations Director Beverly Loftus, the Harlingen EDC team engaged in fruitful discussions with key stakeholders, including Rolando González Barrón and Roberto Mattus from Index Matamoros, Mayor Mario López, and Tamaulipas Secretary of Economy Ninfa Cantú Deandar. The meetings, held at the Matamoros maquiladora association and the Las Ventanas Industrial Park, highlighted opportunities for attracting new businesses to the region.

In attendance were also Harlingen Mayor Norma Sepúlveda, City Administrator Gabriel Gonzalez, and Harlingen Port Public Relations Director Amy Lynch, along with Commissioners Daniel Lopez and Rene Gonzalez, demonstrating a unified commitment to fostering collaboration between South Texas and Northern Tamaulipas.

Promotion of New Business Ventures

In furtherance of its economic development efforts, the Harlingen EDC recently announced the launch of "Let's Get Down to Business," an initiative aimed at assisting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in establishing a presence in the city.

Scheduled for March 23 at the Moon Rock Food Truck Park, located at 1811 W Jefferson Ave, starting at 9:00 a.m., the event will provide SMEs with comprehensive information on financing plans, licensing, procedures, and incentives available to support their projects. Orlando Campos emphasized the EDC's commitment to creating a more conducive environment for new businesses in Harlingen.
