In Las Vegas, Nevada, the Harlingen Economic Development Corporation (Harlingen EDC) from Texas participated in the 2024 ICSC Expo to attract new investments and projects to the city of Harlingen.
The ICSC Expo, organized by the International Council of Shopping Centers, is a global event representing the commercial real estate industry, with a primary focus on shopping centers. Harlingen EDC's involvement included a dedicated booth for the Rio Grande Valley region, in collaboration with the Rio Grande Valley Partnership. This association promotes new investments and regional collaboration through the "One Region, One Voice" initiative.
Orlando Campos, CEO of Harlingen EDC, highlighted the interest from various companies in the competitive advantages that Harlingen offers in the Rio Grande Valley through networking sessions. He noted, "We received a great response from companies in the real estate industry, particularly those specializing in commercial and residential spaces. Our goal is to bring them to Harlingen to explore all the growth opportunities we offer and to guide them through the entire process."
Campos emphasized the diverse investment opportunities available in Harlingen, ranging from industry and logistics to goods, services, and food sectors, as well as retail. "The city is an attractive option for all sectors, offering placement facilities, available land, and economic incentives," he added.
In addition to Harlingen, other economic development leaders from cities such as Brownsville, Weslaco, San Juan, Pharr, Mission, Edinburg, and McAllen participated in the event. Campos concluded, "It is crucial for us to promote our region not only within Texas but also throughout the United States and internationally. Specifically for Harlingen, we have intensified our promotional programs over the past year, including our presence at specialized events in Mexico, such as conferences in Querétaro."
