The Harlingen Economic Development Corporation (Harlingen EDC), in partnership with Valley International Airport (VIA), participated as exhibitors at MRO Americas, a major global event focused on opportunities in the aviation industry.

Orlando Campos, CEO of Harlingen EDC; Beverly Loftus, Director of Operations at Harlingen EDC; Marv Esterly, Director of Aviation at VIA; and Nicolas J. Mirman, Director of Air Service at VIA, traveled to Chicago, Illinois, to promote Harlingen as an ideal city for development. They highlighted the city's land availability, growth in aviation operations, and various opportunities for economic development.

From April 9 to April 11, Harlingen EDC and VIA executives managed a promotional booth showcasing the city's competitive advantages. These include its strategic location in South Texas, direct connection to Mexico through international flights, available land for industrial park development, and workforce enhancement plans.

The booth emphasized the airport's expanding air service and the potential for new infrastructure development. Additionally, new business relationships were forged through networking with representatives from various aviation companies, developers, suppliers, and buyers.

MRO Americas, an annual event bringing together business leaders from around the world, featured participants from 89 countries, 1,000 exhibitors, over 16,000 attendees, and representatives from more than 2,700 companies in 2023.
