Guanajuato: Home to Top OEMs and 40% of Mexico's Pickup Truck Production

Guanajuato is currently recognized as a leading state in attracting investments for the automotive and auto parts sector. The state ranks first nationally in vehicle production and hosts five major assembly plants (OEMs): General Motors, Mazda, Honda, Toyota, and Volkswagen's engine plant. These manufacturers are responsible for assembling 11 models of light vehicles, and the region is home to over 390 multinational Tier 1 and Tier 2 companies.
According to the government of the State of Guanajuato, by 2030, the state is projected to produce over one million vehicles. To date, more than 90 investment projects in the automotive and auto parts sector have been initiated or expanded, representing over $5 billion USD and generating more than 35,000 direct jobs.
Furthermore, the Guanajuato Automotive Cluster (CLAUGTO) reported that 4 out of every 10 pickup trucks produced nationally are manufactured in the state. Overall, Guanajuato is responsible for 40 percent of pickup truck production in Mexico.
