Guanajuato captures $ 349.2 million in foreign investment

Foreign direct investment (FDI) in Guanajuato totaled $ 349.2 million in the third quarter of the year, according to data from the Ministry of Economy (SE).

The agency explained that the new investment in Guanajuato reached 493.7 million dollars; by reinvestment of profits, 552.1 million dollars and the amount by accounts between companies registered a figure of -696.6 million dollars.

In the accumulated 1999 to the third quarter of 2019, the agency announced that FDI in Guanajuato totaled 22,020.2 million dollars, of which 10,496.1 million are for new investments.

MAIN BUSINESS PARTNERS

In the third quarter of 2019, Spain positioned itself as the main investor country in Guanajuato, allocating 261.5 million dollars.

Subsequently, the United States was located with 97.3 million dollars; Canada, with 23.9 million; Belgium, with 23.2; France, with 22.1 million; Germany, with 19 and Switzerland, with 12.8 million.

In Guanajuato, the sectors that presented the greatest dynamism from January to September 2019 were manufacturing industries.

NATIONAL OVERVIEW

From January to September 2019, Mexico captured 26,055.6 million dollars of FDI, according to the SE.

The agency reported that the FDI recorded to date for the first three quarters of 2019 came from 3,759 companies with foreign capital participation, 2,814 trust contracts and 19 foreign legal entities and is integrated as follows:

By type of investment (source of financing): through reinvestment of profits, 55.2%; for new investments, 36.1%; and, by accounts between companies, 8.7 percent.

As for the sector, manufacturing, 44.6%; financial and insurance services, 13.9%; trade, 11.3%; generation of electricity, water and gas, 5.8%; information in mass media, 5.3% and mining, 5.2%. The remaining sectors captured 13.9 percent.

Finally, he announced that by country of origin the United States was the main investor, with 34.9%; followed by Spain, 15.5%; Canada, 10.4%; Germany, 10.1%; Italy 4.1%; and, other countries contributed the remaining 25.0%.
