GKN Aerospace Group will invest more than 10 million dollars in a new project in Chihuahua

The GKN Aerospace Group will make an investment of more than 10 million dollars to incorporate three projects with high-tech equipment and processes that will allow it to supply leading clients in the manufacture of executive aircraft.

This future project contemplates the transfer of a production line that is currently in Europe , for the production of composite materials, the manufacture of elevators for aircraft, which is a line that is transferred from Asia, and the manufacture of fuselages for executive jets, which will be transferred from an operation in South Carolina. 

The projects mean the generation of more than 100 new direct jobs in the city of Chihuahua. The personnel in charge will be trained by collaborators of the company from Europe and the United States.

The new industrial warehouse will be 80,000 square feet to establish these new assembly lines.

In addition to the investment, these projects will have an impact on GKN's supply chain in Chihuahua , since the company will in turn promote the economic growth of suppliers such as " Metal Finishing Company ", which specializes in providing surface treatment services for the aerospace industry.

René Espinoza Terrazas, president of the Mexican Federation of the Aerospace Industry  (Femia), highlighted the investment of two million dollars in this company, which is destined directly to special processes for machined steel parts and for ultrasonic material inspection technology. composites and carbon fiber.

Likewise, he pointed out that as part of this investment, the creation of around 35 new highly certified jobs will be achieved , that is, with an important economic remuneration. Likewise, the expansion of 6,000 square meters of this plant, which is currently located in the Chihuahua Industrial Complex, was reported.
