Brownsville, Texas - In an effort to boost economic growth in South Texas, the Greater Brownsville Incentives Corporation (GBIC) has unveiled a new economic incentives agreement aimed at small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through the Subcity platform.

Bret Gardella, CEO of GBIC, emphasized that the agreement will facilitate access to various financing and sustainability plans for the commercial sector, even during the planning stage.

Triggering New Opportunities

He spoke about the importance of promoting the commercial sector to create a conducive environment for opportunities, empower the workforce, and trigger new employment opportunities and infrastructure projects. "We are committed to fostering economic prosperity in the Brownsville metropolitan area, and one of the best ways we can do this is by connecting our growing businesses with local, state, and federal programs designed to assist them in hiring, purchasing equipment, training their workforce, and investing in their communities.

Driving the Economy

Over the past three years, the financial platform has managed support for the business sector both within and outside of Texas, including processes such as grants, discounts, exemptions, deductions, and tax credits. Gardella emphasized, "Incentives that were once the exclusive domain of public companies with national signatures are now accessible to small and medium-sized businesses that drive the economy of Brownsville."

On his part, Alex White, CEO and co-founder of Subcity, highlighted that this is the first time the platform has signed a support agreement with an economic development organization in Texas. "The platform streamlines the identification of relevant programs and expedites incentive reporting for businesses growing in Brownsville or contemplating expansion in the region," he concluded.
