First International Economic Summit held at MXLAN 2023

Investment Promotion in Rio South Texas

For the first time in the city of  McAllen, Texas , the first International Economic Summit at MXLAN 2023 was held  , with various activities to promote business and investment in Rio South Texas, as well as conferences and analysis tables focused on stories of success, international alliances, financial and real estate analysis.

With the assistance of the main leaders in economic matters, businessmen, authorities, representatives of organizations and associations between Mexico and the United States, the event began with a panel with the participation of Francisco Ochoa Jr., CEO of Palenque Group; Joaquin Spamer, CEO of CIL Logistics; and Margarita de León, from Gorditas Doña Lula, who spoke about their experience in placing businesses in the United States, focused on the challenges and opportunities of the Latino community.

 United States-Mexico economic connectivity

A panel on economic connectivity between the markets of Mexico and the United States was also generated, with the participation of David Deanda, from Lone Star National Bank; Adrian Villarreal, from International Bank of Commerce; Larry Gonzalez of Plains Capital Bank; Eduardo Caso, from Texas Regional Bank, who agreed on the facilities for foreign trade and current agreements that support the consolidation of new investments, as well as the attraction of nearshoring projects .

Duncan Wood, a specialist in supply chains, mineral geopolitics, energy transition, Mexican politics and ties between Mexico and the United States, spoke about the economic situation and proximity of both countries. At the end, he highlighted the interest of the McAllen business community and various regions of the Mexican territory for future scenarios. 

 

Rio Real Estate South Texas

Another of the panels focused on the real estate market in Rio South Texas, with the participation of David Casarez, CEO of GMAR; Esteban Flores, from the GMAR commercial alliance committee; Sergio Adame, GMAR political affairs and committee chair; also Edgar Garcia, director of planning and zoning for the city of McAllen.
As part of the aspects to be developed to improve production in companies and businesses, they addressed how to deal with labor shortages, through a dialogue between Kevin Wood, International Medical Staffing LLC; Sabrina Houser Amaya, president of the Bracero group; Steven Tipton, founder of International Medical Staffing LLC; and Francisco Peña Valdes, partner at Cacheux, Cavazos & Newton. 

This latest gathering was moderated by Ron Garza, associate vice president for workforce, economic development, government and community relations division at  The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV).
