First companies to arrive at Rooselvelt Industrial Park in Harlingen, Texas

The Economic Development Corporation in Harlingen, Texas (EDC), is in negotiations to secure the first projects within the new industrial park "Rooselvelt Industrial Park," located between Rooselvelt Road and Primera Road.

The Chief Executive Officer, Orlando Campos, mentioned that entrepreneurs' interest is strengthened by the skilled workforce in Harlingen, experience in manufacturing processes, and the logistical network formed by highways, airports, and the commercial port.

New Industrial Park

Information about the companies is kept confidential, but it is expected that the official announcement will be made during the first semester of 2024, with construction set to commence thereafter.

"Developing this new industrial park in Harlingen is very important for the region's economy. We have received significant financial support from the federal government, and we hope to start as soon as possible. The interest from both manufacturing and logistics industries, as well as trade, has been very favorable," he emphasized.

Rooselvelt Industrial Park is located between Rooselvelt Road and Primera Road in Harlingen, spanning over 26 hectares, with easy access to the Port of Harlingen and Harlingen International Airport.

Industrial Opportunities

In 2024, another objective of the Economic Development Corporation will focus on encouraging the medical industry, which has strengthened over the past years in terms of employment and processes, currently forming one of the primary industrial sectors.

Campos revealed that in coordination with the city of Harlingen, a study will be created to analyze and identify new opportunities for the industry and trade.

"We want to enhance community opportunities, attract new sectors, and identify regions of the country with concentrations of industries and strategies we can apply to attract them here. We want to develop the study as soon as possible because we know it will have an impact on new jobs," he concluded.
