EssilorLuxottica's SOFI II Plant Inaugurated in Chihuahua, Mexico, Fuels Economic Growth
Chihuahua Governor Maru Campos led the inauguration ceremony for EssilorLuxottica's SOFI II plant, marking a significant milestone for a more prosperous and competitive Chihuahua. EssilorLuxottica, a multinational eyewear company, invested $130 million in this new facility, contributing to the creation of approximately 2,000 high-quality jobs in the state capital.
Governor Campos, during the ceremony, emphasized the importance of continuity and collaboration among various entities in achieving success in such monumental projects. She highlighted that effective coordination has positioned Chihuahua as a region of development, attracting investments from global industry leaders like EssilorLuxottica, which has chosen to invest once again in the state.
The SOFI II plant will implement environmentally responsible processes, prioritizing water conservation and waste utilization. Governor Campos underscored that Chihuahua has become an attractive and reliable destination for investment, supported by key indicators and the presence of nearly 500 manufacturing companies in the region.
Talent Development
Fabien Festal, General Manager of SOFI in Chihuahua, emphasized the importance of teamwork in realizing this project, representing 38 years of EssilorLuxottica's growth in the state. He highlighted collaboration with local educational institutions for talent development and the implementation of automated processes in the new plant.
Chihuahua Mayor Marco Bonilla thanked Governor Campos for her vision and commitment to Chihuahua's economic progress, highlighting actions and programs positively impacting citizens' quality of life.
Located in the BAFAR Industrial Park, the SOFI II plant will manufacture lenses and frames using state-of-the-art technological processes, supported by Chihuahua's skilled workforce. Designed as a smart factory, it will leverage advanced technologies to enhance employee safety, reduce waste, and maintain product quality.
A New Project
The inauguration ceremony was attended by EssilorLuxottica authorities, Ulises Alejandro Fernández Gamboa (Undersecretary of Innovation and Competitiveness), René Alejandro Espinosa Terrazas (President of Index Chihuahua), Eugenio Baeza Mares (Founder and President of the Board of Grupo Bafar), and other distinguished guests.
The event concluded with the ceremonial ribbon-cutting and a tour of the SOFI II facilities. Governor Campos had the opportunity to learn about the company's history, product details, and the experiences of workers involved in this new project in Chihuahua.
