The North Industrial Park in Edinburg, Texas, has received a new investment of up to $10 million for the construction of a 200,000-square-foot logistics warehouse.
The "Region I Industrial" project will be primarily used for cotton storage. Raudel Garza, the Executive Director of the Edinburg Economic Development Corporation (Edinburg EDC), highlighted the competitive advantages this warehouse will bring to the Rio Grande Valley region. With the increasing demand from logistics companies for more storage and distribution space, Garza commented, "This investment is timely and welcome; more industrial space means more jobs and investment in our community."
Phase I of the project will begin immediately with a budget of $6 million, and during this phase, 100,000 square feet will be installed. Over the next 12 months, construction will expand to 200,000 square feet, with the total investment reaching up to $10 million. Garza also emphasized that the "Region I Industrial" project will create 10 new jobs.
Logistics is one of the fastest-growing sectors in Edinburg. During the investment announcement, various competitive advantages of the city for initiating new infrastructure and economic development projects were highlighted. The "Region I Industrial" warehouse is being developed by Joaquín Spamer, President of Grupo CIL. Mayor Ramiro Garza emphasized that this new investment is a testament to the growing business confidence in Edinburg, while Veronica Gonzales, Chairwoman of the Edinburg EDC board, stressed the strategic location of the North Industrial Park as a magnet for investments.
