Harlingen Economic Development Corporation (Harlingen EDC), in partnership with the Matamoros Economic Development Committee (Codem), participated in the second International Automotive Supply Summit in Querétaro, Mexico.
Representing Harlingen EDC were Orlando Campos, CEO, and Beverly Loftus, Director of Operations, while Codem was represented by David Garcia Arguelles, President, and Grecia Zertuche, Executive Director.
Both parties emphasized the significance of this event in attracting new businesses to the region, offering strengths to the automotive industry such as skilled labor, manufacturing expertise, streamlined export-import processes, and a robust logistics sector.
The cross-border collaboration between the two cities is pivotal for economic development. "We had a joint booth where we approached potential investors to invite them to explore the region. One of the key features we highlighted is that we are located in a privileged border area with international bridges that provide agile export processes, as well as connectivity to central Mexico or the interior of the United States," emphasized García Arguelles in an interview with Mexico Industry.
The automotive industry in Matamoros and Harlingen is a predominant sector known for its high standards of quality in manufacturing and international export processes.
During the International Summit, both organizations established new contacts with potential investors to attract more projects that can strengthen the local economy.
