Toluca is strengthening its role as a regional hub for industrial development with the groundbreaking of a new DEACERO recycling facility. The Mexican steel company, one of the largest recyclers in the Americas, will invest over MXN $150 million in the project, which is expected to generate 1,500 direct and indirect jobs.
The city’s mayor, Ricardo Moreno Bastida, highlighted that this investment reinforces Toluca’s identity as a center of work and progress, while offering a practical solution for responsible waste management. The new facility will recycle scrap steel back into the production chain, reducing carbon emissions and promoting a cleaner, more sustainable city.

Expanding a Continental Recycling Network
According to Rodolfo Fernández Pozas, DEACERO’s Raw Materials Director, the company produces the greenest steel in the Americas. The new facility in Toluca will join a network of over 20 steel recycling yards strategically located in cities such as Mexicali, Chihuahua, Mérida, Tlalnepantla, Guadalajara, and Tultitlán, along with operations in San Antonio and Corpus Christi, Texas
Yolanda Esquivel Jaramillo, Toluca’s Director of Economic Development, emphasized the local government's commitment to attracting both new investment and reinvestment, promoting job creation and improved quality of life.
