Dart Aerospace opens manufacturing center in Chihuahua

The Canadian company  Dart Aerospace , one of the world's leading manufacturers of flotation equipment and parts for aircraft, installed its manufacturing center in the city of Chihuahua.

The start-up of this new production plant –located in the Chihuahua Sur Industrial Park– involved an investment of 3.6 million dollars, and it has an area of ​​70,000 square feet. It is estimated that it will create 107 new jobs.

Eric Guernard, project director and plant manager, recognized Chihuahua as a city with a greater capacity for teamwork.

He explained that these new facilities are the beginning of Dart in manufacturing in Mexico, this being the third country in North America in which they are operating.

In addition, he stressed that this project would not be a reality today nor would it have been achieved without the valuable support of his allies in the industry; the aerospace cluster, the government and the people of Chihuahua.

In February last year, company officials and state authorities laid the first stone for the Dart Aerospace plant. 

The manager specified that the construction of the facilities was completed in September 2020 and operations began in October 2020. 

"Now, a few months into production, we can say with complete confidence that our new manufacturing center is operating as expected, Chihuahua and our highly trained employees are our great allies," he said.

The arrival of this Canadian company is the result of the coordinated work carried out by the Chihuahua Aerospace Cluster and the Mexican Federation of the Aerospace Industry (Femia), with the support of the municipal government and the government of the state of Chihuahua.

Present at the opening ceremony were Ryan Wiliamson, General Vice President of Dart Aerospace; Alejandra de la Vega Arizpe, Secretary of Innovation and Economic Development of the State of Chihuahua; Luis Lara Armendáriz, president of American Industries; María Angélica Granados Trespalacios, mayor of Chihuahua, as well as operating personnel of the plant.

Dart's key products include: floatation systems, landing gears, interior and exterior accessories, load expansion, external loads, cable cutters, and engine protection system.
