Economic Development Drive and
Collaboration
As the President and CEO of Rio Grande Valley (RGV)
Partnership, Daniel Silva champions the arrival of new investments, industries,
and economic development across the counties of Willacy, Starr, Hidalgo, and
Cameron. His vision aims to benefit the community through economic growth.
The establishment of new businesses also translates
into job creation, providing the workforce with new competitive advantages, and
reinforcing connections in roads, airports, seaports, and international
bridges.
"The primary goal of RGV Partnership is the
unity of the four counties. Texas is a leading state in various manufacturing
processes, in the economy, and in jobs. We will always promote the advantages
of each city so that when an investment arrives, it can benefit the entire
population; we are part of a whole."
Since July 2022, Silva has led this organization
with a strong educational background, holding a Bachelor's degree in Business
Administration, Information Systems, and Quantitative Methods, as well as a
Master's degree in Public Administration from the University of Texas-Pan
American.
Path of Success and Leadership
Prior to his current role, Silva served as CEO of
Mission Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) and Executive Director of
Mission Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone. During his almost two-decade tenure at
Mission EDC, he showcased commitment, culminating in roles such as Chief
Operating Officer and General Manager. In his leadership, he spearheaded
programs that promoted workforce development, technological advancement, and
entrepreneurship in the Mission area and its surroundings.
Silva has also held positions on the boards of
various organizations, including Texas Science & Engineering FAIR, Teach
For America, Texas Alliance for I-69, and Border Trade Alliance (BTA).
Legislative advocacy is another area of his
expertise. He played a pivotal role in passing legislation making computer
science a basic curriculum subject in local high schools, fostering
technological advancement.
Under Silva's leadership, RGV Partnership recently
facilitated the signing of an agreement among 47 mayors from the four counties,
alongside the state governor, Greg Abbott. The goal is to intensify efforts to
attract investments. "This allows us to set short, medium, and long-term
goals. The main thing is that all the cities within RGV work together to
achieve new economic development milestones, thus strengthening everyone
collectively," noted Silva.
