Daikin Manufacturing México (DMMX), a subsidiary of Japan’s Daikin Industries, inaugurated its third production facility within the Daikin San Luis Potosí Campus, strengthening the state’s position as a key hub in global HVAC manufacturing.
During the event, the company also announced a new MXN 1.1 billion investment planned for 2026, which will drive further growth and reinforce the local supply chain.
Industrial Growth and Technological Leadership
The Daikin San Luis Potosí Campus brings together three manufacturing plants—two for applied products and one for residential use—along with a state-of-the-art showroom and an R&D Laboratory focused on sustainable technologies such as the R32 refrigerant, inverter compressor systems, and heat pumps.
With a total accumulated investment of MXN 5.78 billion and over 3,000 new jobs created in the past two years, the complex has become a benchmark for industrial innovation in Mexico.
New MXN 1.1 Billion Investment for 2026
At the inauguration ceremony, Daikin announced two new projects to be launched in 2026:
- A centrifugal water-cooled chiller line, with an annual production capacity of 400 units and an investment of MXN 880 million.
- An expansion of electronic component production, with an additional MXN 220 million investment.
Together, these projects will create 350 new jobs, bringing Daikin’s total investment in the state to MXN 6.88 billion.
Naofumi Takenaka, President and COO of Daikin Industries, highlighted Mexico’s growing importance to the company’s global strategy:
“Through this campus we strengthen our philosophy of producing locally for local consumption, reaffirming our commitment to carbon neutrality by 2030. We have full confidence in San Luis Potosí as a center for innovation and talent.”
Takenaka also noted that Daikin celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2024, the same year the company reached global sales of MXN 58.73 trillion.
Innovation and Local Development
Andrés Benavides, General Director of Daikin Manufacturing México, emphasized that the company’s expansion in the past three years has consolidated its ability to meet the growing demand in North and Latin America.
“Our new investment for the production of chillers and electronic components reaffirms our commitment to the development of San Luis Potosí,” he said.
The State Government recognized Daikin as a key partner in the state’s industrial development, noting that high-value and technology-based investments generate skilled jobs and contribute to a more competitive ecosystem.
Currently, Daikin employs more than 4,000 people in San Luis Potosí across four manufacturing facilities and an Engineering and Design Center located within the Tecnológico de Monterrey’s Entrepreneurship Building. From there, the company develops energy-efficient products and solutions for the global market.
The Daikin San Luis Potosí Campus represents not only a major production expansion but also a platform for innovation and talent development, promoting technology transfer, skilled employment, and Mexican expertise in the HVAC industry.
