Construction of a new 477,529 square meter business park in the Port of Brownsville, Texas

The Port of Brownsville , Texas, the only one with deep waters between the border of Mexico and the United States, began the construction of a new business park that will cover 477,529 square meters , in which the logistical advantages offered to companies will be detonated manufacturing and industrial groups.

The project will have a base of operations that will combine access to efficient multimodal transport and solid storage capacities , providing tools for collaboration, prosperity and innovation.

During the start of the work, Esteban Guerra, president of the Brownsville shipping district , highlighted the importance of this maritime terminal in international trade processes, through the mobilization of 15.2 billion tons of cargo in 2022.

“On behalf of our Brownsville Boating District Board of Commissioners, we are proud to lead this effort to provide modern infrastructure, access to transportation and logistics, a prime location for businesses seeking to establish a presence along the interstate border. United States and Mexico.

The new business park will allow companies to expand their markets, improve efficiency in supply chains and contribute to sustainable and resilient operations. “ The business park at the Port of Brownsville is a critical component in our mission to attract new industries and businesses to the area, creating jobs and driving economic growth ,” he added.

Another aspect that stands out is the 55th position it occupies in the country due to the movement of cargo transported by water in 2021, with 8.9 million tons of products, which represents an increase of 30% compared to 2020 when they were accounted for . 6.7 million . 

The activity generated in the port contributes to 2,000 million dollars in the regional economy and 3,000 million dollars in the state of Texas, equivalent to the creation of 51,000 jobs.

The Port of Brownsville leads the transportation of steel to Mexico, and is the main multimodal transportation center of the Rio Grande Valley in northern Mexico. 

In addition to the new business park already under construction, other investments include patio expansion, dock rehabilitation, and the Brazos Island Harbor Channel Improvement project , which will deepen the Brownsville Ship Channel to 52 feet , generating Significant energy cost savings for businesses.

Also, the Mexican company Forza Steel maintains a state-of-the-art plant under construction for an amount of 60 million dollars ; In addition, NextDecade 's proposed project Rio Grande LNG , ranks as the largest privately financed project in Texas.
