Company with world presence held a millionaire investment in Queretaro

MARS Pet Care Mexico gathered customers, associates and members to celebrate the opening of their moist food for pets’ plant in El Marques, Queretaro to present the end of a project that was born three years ago with an investment of more than one billion pesos with an expansion of 8,400 m2.
Mauricio Espinosa, in charge of the productive plants in the segment of pet food, said: “We presented the proposal to high directives, always looking for the sustenance to support it, which was easy due to the increase in the demand for moist food in the market.”
The construction of the plant started a year and a half ago, taking this project to reality by having the facilities ready to start producing; it is important mentioning that the plant has a production capability of 25 million pouches per month, “at the beginning will only be produced 50 % through two shifts and six production lines with the participation of 112 associates from which 60 % are women; we will have an increase of 25 % of the production per year and it is expected that for 2020 the plant will be working to its maximum capability generation 500 direct jobs and 1, 500 indirect ones,” said Mauricio Espinosa.
At the event participated company’s high directives such as Nigyai Makhmudova, global president of MARS Pet nutrition; Carlos Peon Hernandez, general director of Pet care Mexico; Carlos Dieppa, regional president of Pet care America Latina; Sandra Collier, global vice-president of human resources at MARS Pet nutrition, and Mauricio Espinosa director of manufacturing of MARS Pet care, as well as State authorities among which are Francisco Dominguez Servian, governor of the State of Queretaro; Marco Antonio Del Prete Tercero, secretary of Sustainable Development of the State; Tonatiuh Cervantes Curiel, secretary of Agricultural Development in the State, and Jose Luis Aguilera Rico, secretary of Labor in the State.
The company which is operating globally in more than 80 countries has been operating in Mexico almost 30 years, producing chocolate and food for pets having two locations in Queretaro and two in the municipality of Poncitlan, Jalisco; the first plant they opened in the state of Queretaro started operations 24 years ago and is considered the largest regarding capability as well as the one of lower production cost from the 40 plants that MARS has worldwide. Its main area of consumption is the center, followed by the pacific and finally the northern area of the country.
The totality of the moist food produced by MARS plants in the country, is for local consumption, the company exports less than 2 % of its production of dry food to Central America, northern part of South America and some countries of the Caribbean, since one of their policies indicates that plants must have an investment focused in satisfying their local market.

levels of automation, technological and quality standards at the same level of
human food, by having the certification of ISO regarding the food safety FSSC
22000, guaranteeing the quality of all our products,” said Francisco Rios, head
of the communication area and corporate affairs for MARS.
