In attracting new investments and industries to South Texas, collaborative efforts between Economic Development Corporations (EDCs), authorities, and economic development organizations are crucial. Their focus lies in highlighting the competitive advantages of all cities within the region.

Carlos Garza, Project Manager at the Edinburg EDC, discussed the logistical strengths, workforce capabilities, infrastructure, and quality of life that exist in the region. He shared positive expectations for 2024, ranging from industrial land occupancy to the development of new storage and distribution sites, job creation, and workforce development.

EDCs work in coordination, even with Mexican representatives, to initiate projects with nearshoring benefits. Spanning from Laredo to Brownsville, South Texas emerges as an ideal business hub with specialized international bridges for cargo, airports offering both international and local connections, expanding railway networks, and maritime ports.

Garza also highlighted the collaborative efforts of regional universities in equipping professionals with tools to drive industries forward through innovation processes. Additionally, support is extended to small and medium-sized enterprises in goods and services sectors.

The unique competitive advantages of each city in South Texas collectively contribute to the region's appeal. Promoting the entire region is part of a strategy to position it as the foremost hub for U.S. commerce worldwide.
