Coficab officially opened its second manufacturing facility within the Durango Industrial Logistics Center (CLID), marking a new phase of expansion for the state’s automotive sector. The company announced that this new operation will support its long-term plan to reach 2,000 jobs in Durango.
The ceremony gathered Governor Esteban Villegas Villarreal, Mayor Toño Ochoa, and Mahmoud Ben Nahia, General Manager of Coficab Durango, who highlighted the incorporation of advanced technology and the growing strength of the region’s industrial corridor.
Infrastructure and Certainty to Support Global Investment
Governor Esteban Villegas emphasized that Coficab’s continued expansion confirms the state’s economic direction and its capacity to attract high-value industries. He noted that the administration will reinforce infrastructure, utilities, and energy supply to support the development of CLID, adding that the new facility will generate specialized jobs and long-term benefits for the local workforce.
Fernando Rosas Palafox, Secretary of Economic Development, stated that Coficab has invested more than USD 170 million in Durango and employs over 1,400 people across its facilities. The new phase—exceeding USD 60 million—demonstrates the state’s competitive environment for advanced manufacturing and higher-wage sectors within the global supply chain.
Durango as a Strategic Platform for Coficab
General Manager Mahmoud Ben Nahia highlighted Durango’s role as one of Coficab’s fastest-growing platforms in the Americas. He explained that the new plant will expand operating capacity and reinforce the company’s production network. Mayor Toño Ochoa noted that Durango provides favorable conditions for international companies, including security, water availability, and a stable community environment. He added that the city will continue coordinating improvements in mobility and infrastructure within CLID to strengthen competitiveness for incoming investment.
Governor Villegas Villarreal also announced complementary projects tied to the region’s industrial growth, including an on-site IMSS childcare center, the expansion of clinic 44, a planned new hospital, roadway improvements, and energy upgrades.
