In recent years, commerce
and investment between Mexico and China has been quickly developed, that is why
a Coahuila Committee led by the secretary of Economy, Jaime Guerra Perez,
together with a team of Promotion and Strategic Projects, assured the visit to
Coahuila of six Chinese companies, continuing the economic promotion tour that
allows a greater attraction of foreign investment.
Meetings were established
in Jiangsu Provence, mainly in the cities of Changzhou and Changshu, and
according to Guerra Perez, great commercial cooperation is expected thanks to
the friendship between this province and Coahuila.
“We held a meeting with 10
new companies with a potential investment project, manufacturers of the
following products: Safety equipment and videoconferences; shelves for storage
manufacturers; elevators and escalators; plastic injection: solar cells;
heaters, and garden furniture, in addition of linoleum floor, molds and
tooling, hydraulic jacks, and construction and design,” he said.
The Coahuila delegation
provided follow-up to a company in the decision process for La Laguna Region,
with 55 million dollars in investment and 1,200 jobs; as well as another one
for the Southeast Region, in the expansion process, with 15 million dollars and
50 jobs; these belong to the tooling and auto-parts areas, respectively.
In addition of Guerra
Perez, this tour was attended by the undersecretary of Promotion and Strategic
Projects, Jorge Ramon Montemayor, as well as the director of Promotion and
Investment, Sofia Delgadillo Diaz, together with three businessmen from
different state regions: Carlos Brana Munoz, Rodolfo Garza Villarreal, and
Carlos Bres Carranza.
“The search for new investments and the promotion of our state is important for us, with the objective of being able to offer better jobs and with that a better life quality for the people of Coahuila,” added Guerra Perez.
CLOSE RELATIONSHIP WITH
CHANGZHOU
On their visit to
Changzhou, the representative team of Coahuila gathered with Ding Chun, mayor
of the Chinese city, who welcomed the Coahuila delegation to participate in the
Advanced Technology Exhibition.
In recent years, Changzhou
has developed close economic and commercial relations with Mexico, and the
commerce volume between both has increased every year.
Jaime Guerra underlined
that they expect that through this visit, economic and commercial cooperation
between both places will continue promoting and the mutual benefit is achieved,
mainly because of the friendship of this city with Saltillo the capital of
Coahuila.
Together with this, the
Coahuila delegation visited an exterior residential and commercial heaters
manufacturer company – which due to strategic reasons asked not to be
identified – that currently exports its products to the United States and
Mexico, with customers such as Walmart, Costco and Sam’s Club.
An investment plan has
started in Mexico, as a result of its growth, and Coahuila has been of great
interest to this company, as the Port to Plains program will facilitate its
operations and product distribution towards the American country.
Likewise, a meeting was held with companies dedicated to vinyl floors manufacturing, and he shared about the supports offered to companies looking to establish in the state since they are already analyzing the possibilities of settling in Mexico since most of their production is exported to the United States.
SUPPORT TO LOCAL COMPANIES
Guerra Perez said that a
work meeting was held with the General Secretary of China Council for the
Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT,) Gordon Kao, who underlined the
importance of this meeting with Coahuila since Mexico is the second commercial
partner of China in Latin America.
The secretary of the
Economy detailed that two main points were addressed: Coahuila’s invitation to
participate at the Products Import and Export Fair next year, as well as the
cooperation through a platform, to help
small and medium companies to invest abroad.
Likewise, he underlined that in their meeting with the head of CCPIT, they talked about the strength of the automotive industry in Mexico and that this sector represents a big part of the exchange between China and Mexico.
“In such meeting, Coahuila
was congratulated for being the only State in Mexico participating in Auto
Shanghai on April this year,” ended Guerra Perez.
