Cameron County has a new Director of Economic Development

With over 16 years of experience dedicated to the economic development of South Texas, Ramiro Alemán is the new Director of Economic Development for Cameron County, Texas. His appointment will bring a fresh perspective to addressing the business needs of the region, attracting investments, generating employment, and overseeing infrastructure projects.

Driving the Workforce

Previously, Alemán served as the Executive Director and CEO of the Economic Development Corporation (EDC) of the city of San Benito, Texas. During his tenure, he forged agreements to drive the workforce and enhance education in collaboration with the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. This included binational economic cooperation with the Economic Development Committee of Matamoros.

In a joint statement with San Benito EDC, Alemán emphasized, "I enjoyed my time as Executive Director where we achieved various objectives, from locating new commercial developments to engaging in strategic partnerships. San Benito EDC is on the right path for continuous growth."

Industrial Development

Alex Salinas, President of the Board of Directors of San Benito EDC, commented, "We are fortunate that Ramiro Alemán will continue to work in Cameron County for the betterment of this city. We wish him the best in his future projects."

Prior to this role, Alemán held positions such as Industrial Development Manager for Harlingen EDC and Director of Business and Expansion Retention at the Greater Brownsville Incentives Corporation, among others.
