Cainiao, the logistics arm of Alibaba Group, has officially inaugurated its first self-operated warehouse in Mexico, providing global companies with high-quality local fulfillment services. Strategically located and supported by a robust last-mile network, the new center enables deliveries across the country, with transit times of up to two days in key areas of the State of Mexico.
Logistics in Mexico: E-Commerce Growth and Opportunities for Brands
Mexico is emerging as one of the fastest-growing e-commerce markets worldwide. According to the Mexican Online Sales Association (AMVO), online sales revenue reached $39.1 billion in 2024, with nearly 20% annual growth—marking six consecutive years of double-digit expansion. Against this backdrop, Cainiao’s investment strengthens logistics infrastructure for merchants seeking to scale in one of the most dynamic digital ecosystems in the world.
Located in the State of Mexico, the warehouse is less than an hour from the International Airport, strategically positioned to serve major urban centers such as Mexico City and Monterrey.
Fully integrated with leading local e-commerce platforms, the facility allows merchants to optimize operations with services such as drop-shipping, reverse logistics for returns management, product kitting and packaging, product photography, and other value-added solutions. This enables businesses to manage multiple sales channels from a single storage point.
Digital Capabilities and Operational Standards of the New Center
According to Cainiao warehouse specialists, the center benefits from the company’s global operational expertise and advanced digital capabilities. Through its proprietary Warehouse Management System, merchants can monitor inventory, inbound and outbound shipments, and delivery status in real time.
The warehouse maintains superior operational standards, achieving over 95% on-time departure, scanning, and delivery rates—providing confidence to brands and companies looking to grow in the Mexican market.
Since entering Mexico, Cainiao has made continuous investments in infrastructure, including international warehouses, directly operated last-mile networks, and storage and cargo centers.
Today, the company operates a local delivery network covering more than 20 states, offering nationwide delivery in three days, and two-day delivery in Mexico City and key areas of the State of Mexico, fully integrated with its warehouse operations.
Cainiao will continue to explore additional investments in response to the market’s evolving distribution and logistics needs.
