Spamer presented the progress made under his leadership at BTA Mexico, including significant increases in Alliance membership, the formation of new partnerships with related organizations, and the establishment of a Public Policy Committee to influence federal and state government actions.

Strengthening Border Competitiveness

On June 27, the BTA Mexico delegation attended the "Tenth Annual Building a Competitive US-Mexico Border Conference," organized by the Wilson Center and BTA. This event gathered legislators, officials, and private sector representatives from both countries to discuss strategies for strengthening the bilateral relationship and enhancing the competitiveness of the border region. Key topics included legislative perspectives on the border, trade policies under the USMCA, the impact of new technologies on trade facilitation, the China-US relationship and its effects on investments and trade in Mexico, and expectations for the new administration in Mexico.

Strategic Alliances and Key Dialogues

During his stay in Washington, Spamer met with Humberto Martínez Cantú, president of the National Council of the Maquiladora and Manufacturing Export Industry (Index), agreeing on a strategic alliance to position the export manufacturing industry as a leader in nearshoring in the border region. Additionally, Spamer held discussions with Vicente González and Henry Cuellar, Texas representatives in the US Congress, and John Cowen, mayor of Brownsville, Texas. In these meetings, he emphasized the importance of continuing to promote border trade for the benefit of both nations through bilateral policies that facilitate trade flow, improve infrastructure, and enhance border security.
