One of the most important challenges for companies in 2022 will be to develop their creativity to retain staff and reduce turnover rates , due to the great job offer that exists in the region due to the growth of the industry.
In an interview, the president of the Association of Human Resources of the Industry of Tijuana (Arhitac), Mtra. Mayra Amezquita, who recently assumed her position, indicated that during 2021 the labor issue had significant growth in Tijuana and all of Baja California.
He referred that during November and December 2021, 11,000 vacancies were registered among the associated companies of Tijuana, Tecate, Rosarito and Ensenada, and the trend for 2022 is outlined in the same way.
"In fact, some companies had problems hiring, since Baja California has an unemployment rate of 2%, which indicates that the industry continues to grow in terms of new operations and expansions," he said.
The leader stressed that the most dynamic sectors have been medical devices and aerospace, which has generated opportunities for those who come to cities like Tijuana in search of improving their economy.
GREAT OFFER OF VACANCIES
Given this situation, the president of the Arhitac pointed out , the organizations will have to face challenges such as retaining their staff during 2022, given the offer of vacancies that exists in the region.
"By 2022 we expect challenges in terms of the creativity that companies must have with the changes that have been taking place, such as the increase in the minimum wage," he noted.
The leader mentioned that as soon as the announcement was made about the increase in the minimum wage, the companies began to make their adjustments before the end of 2021, in order to maintain competitiveness and meet their objectives.
"All this leads us to seek to continue being productive, in Baja California we are known for going beyond that, which is why a survey was launched in which the organizations mentioned the additional benefits they offer their workers and found that the vast majority handles two increments in the employee's first year of work, which is a very good thing," he stressed.
Another challenge, said Mtra. Mayra Amezquita, will be creating strategies to reduce staff turnover, which as of November 2021 stood at 7%, in order to maintain stable job positions.
In this sense, he argued that the areas of greatest demand for 2022 will be engineering in design, purchasing and logistics.
"At Arhitac we will work very actively to update all this information every two months with the associated companies, with the aim of providing them with hard data to help them make decisions," he concluded.
