Automotive supply grows in Aguascalientes

Voestalpine started operations in Aguascalientes due to a large order made by a high range automobiles manufacturer worth 600 million dollars.
Voestalpine Automotive Components Aguascalientes investment was of 30 million dollars and will generate 90 new jobs of high added value.
They will be working on 10 assembly facilitates, in a total surface of 10.000 square meters and with that, they will contribute to the productive diversification project and technological innovation projected for Aguascalientes in the upcoming years.
At the Austrian – German company’s opening event, held at the plant located in the Douki Seisan Park – Vesta Industrial Park, Peter Schwab, president of the Board of Directors and chief of the Metal Shaping Division of Voestalpine internationally, recognized that there are economic conditions in Aguascalientes that favor the automotive industry and project a dynamic future for companies of the sector.
“The automotive market boom in Mexico shows a great future full of potential for us; we have used the dynamic development of the market in a long term to shape local production capabilities,” he said.
The opening
of the plant was on September, but since August this year the production
started of a series of body and structural components used in crossbars, roof
frames or in the rear part of the car.
Especially in the wheel arc assembly field, the company has unique knowledge: for that they manufacture the automotive components of Voestalpine Group, being the most sophisticated until now and integrated by 20 individual pieces.
Meanwhile, Klaus Mannsperger, president of PG Mexico, said that the automotive industry installed in the entity is entering the premium vehicles market; therefore it is opening new roads to suppliers that did not have presence in Mexico.
“Aguascalientes is offering a big Premium market with these characteristics, and we also want to include options worldwide, such as in China where we have automobile production; we are going to new roads with different suppliers. There is great trend in Mexico of having more outsourcing which was not done before,” he said.
In addition, Fredrik Starberg, director of Automotive Components of Voestalpine Aguascalientes, recognized the quality of the human capital and anticipated that for next December and in a record time, two new production lines of semimanual parts will be ready.
“For our main commercial partner Daimler, we are grateful for their confidence and complete dedication, we will continue working with lots of persistence and we are confident in that this partnership will be successful in Aguascalientes,” he ended.
