Nuevo León strengthened its advanced manufacturing and semiconductor ecosystem with the expansion of Swedish company Atlas Copco in Apodaca, a project focused on industrial development, chip-related technologies and the strengthening of Mexican suppliers for operations in the United States.

The announcement was made during the working tour that Governor Samuel García is carrying out in Europe, where he is holding meetings with business leaders and executives to promote new investments and strategic projects for Nuevo León in technology and industrial sectors.

The company, specialized in air compression, power generation and industrial vacuum solutions, confirmed the launch of two strategic projects in the municipality of Apodaca: AIM Servicios Administrativos and MEXSO, Sourcing Team Compressor Technique.

MEXSO, originally established in 2023, will enhance the development of Mexican suppliers to serve Atlas Copco’s operations in the United States, amid the regional growth of the technology and manufacturing industry.

“This company already arrived in Nuevo León to manufacture compressors and everything related to semiconductors. Now that Nuevo León is moving toward industries of the future such as data centers, chips and technology, Atlas Copco is beginning to grow and expand,” Samuel García highlighted.

The governor added that Atlas Copco also manufactures infrastructure for cleanrooms used in the production of microcomponents, a key segment for global technology manufacturing chains.

As part of the agenda in Stockholm, Samuel García also held a bilateral meeting with Marcus Wallenberg, considered one of the most influential business leaders in Northern Europe and main shareholder of global consortiums such as ABB, AstraZeneca, Electrolux, Ericsson, Saab and SKF.

During the meeting, participants discussed the competitive advantages that the modernization of the Free Trade Agreement between Mexico and the European Union will offer to attract new industrial investments to Nuevo León and strengthen productive integration between Mexico and Europe.

Executives from Electrolux also participated in the working session and formally expressed their interest in establishing operations in Nuevo León, expanding the interest of Swedish companies in the state.

The governor closed the day with a promotional event ahead of the 2026 World Cup at the Residence of Mexico in Sweden, accompanied by diplomatic representatives from the United States and Canada.

Together with the U.S. Ambassador to Sweden, Christine J. Toretti, and Canada’s Ambassador to Sweden, Robert Sinclair, he presented Nuevo León’s tourism, logistics and air connectivity strengths ahead of the international soccer tournament.
