The agroindustrial and advanced manufacturing sectors in Aguascalientes are well-positioned to expand their exports to the U.S. market, capitalizing on the logistics platform provided by Pharr, Texas, according to Esaú Garza, Secretary of Economic Development, Science, and Technology for Aguascalientes. His comments followed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Mexican Business Council for Foreign Trade, Investment, and Technology (COMCE) and the Pharr Economic Development Corporation (Pharr EDC) aimed at fostering trade cooperation and investment.
Garza emphasized Aguascalientes’ intent to leverage these advantages to increase its presence in international markets, highlighting that two sectors with strong growth potential in this partnership are agroindustrial, with agricultural products, and advanced manufacturing, including automotive components, medical devices, and microprocessors.
“Pharr is a vital logistics hub that facilitates the reception, storage, and distribution of goods to various parts of the United States,” Garza noted.
This collaboration not only simplifies the entry of U.S. products into Aguascalientes but also provides a platform for local businesses to expand in the United States, particularly in Texas, which has become an attractive market due to its connectivity and logistical strengths.
“Pharr can play a crucial role as a logistics and warehousing hub,” he said.
Additionally, this Texas city shares logistical similarities with Aguascalientes, making it a strategic point for goods distribution to and from the U.S., enabling businesses from Aguascalientes to access the American market more effectively.
Beyond the U.S., Garza highlighted partnerships with key countries such as Japan, Germany, and Spain, managed by dedicated offices within the Secretariat of Economic Development that facilitate foreign investment by providing support in native languages—demonstrating Aguascalientes’ commitment to strengthening its global reach.
Garza also underscored the importance of international promotion for Aguascalientes, mentioning participation in specialized trade fairs and business tours as key strategies for attracting new investments and promoting exports. “We work both nationally and internationally to create growth opportunities for Aguascalientes,” he concluded.
The collaboration with Pharr, combined with these international efforts, is a cornerstone of Aguascalientes’ economic development strategy, positioning the state as a key investment destination and export center for North America.
Garza emphasized the importance of strengthening commercial ties with strategic partners like Pharr, Texas, to drive economic growth in the region.
