New infrastructure projects and industrial availability will trigger investments in Edinburg

The current investment of up to 90 million dollars that is applied in the city of Edinburg for new infrastructure projects includes airports, highways and other logistics networks, which guarantee the economic and industrial growth that the Rio South Texas region has managed to capture in the last few months and that nearshoring will detonate even more.
Ramiro Garza Jr., the mayor of Edinburg, explained that among the competitive advantages that exist in the city, the presence of universities, connections to international bridges, land in the north for the construction of industrial parks and shops stands out, in addition to occupying the fifth place of population growth in the region and the twelfth in the entire United States.
“Industries looking for a place to place their business will find in Edinburg the most prosperous area, located just 11 miles from the international corridor with Mexico, and with Highway 281 through which all types of commerce pass, in addition to having a large workforce and the constant development of new professionals”.
One of the infrastructure projects is the expansion of the South Texas International Airport, for an amount of up to 10 million dollars to maintain, rehabilitate various areas, extend cargo capacity, and promote the creation of a new commercial corridor that facilitates transportation. transport of merchandise coming from international crossings, for example, the Pharr-Reynosa International Bridge.
“The airport already provides cargo service and we seek to take advantage of this to attract investment and respond to industries, the airport land is around 1,000 acres, it is located in the north, so there is a connection to Interstate 281 and the industrial park where new investments are also being generated”.
The expectation for the coming years is that new industrial parks, warehouses and storage sites will be established in Edinburg where companies in the logistics and manufacturing sectors land their processes.
Faced with nearshoring , and taking demographic growth into account, Garza said that by 2040 the population could rise to 150,000 inhabitants.
Edinburg is home to the school district, which is why the most important universities in Texas are based here, which supports the constant development of new professionals and provides tools for adults who want to resume an educational program.
"Our economic development plan consists of permanently promoting the training of new professionals and employment, Edinburg has more than 30,000 students, which is also an opportunity for investors, in addition to everything we offer due to the geographical location, they are residential developments and hospital systems”.
The mayor of the city of Edinburg specified the coordinated work being carried out with Mexico to promote international trade and the positive expectations of attracting investment that are shared with other cities in Rio South Texas.
Edinburg, he concluded, "is a zone of opportunities, focused on industries and commerce."
