KIA invests 408 million dollars in Nuevo León

The Korean automaker KIA announced that it will invest 408 million dollars to build five new industrial buildings in the plant they have located in Pesquería, Nuevo León ; With this project, they will generate 800 jobs.
Gwang Gu Lee, president of KIA Mexico ; and Samuel García Sepúlveda, governor of Nuevo León, announced that the investment will be completed in 2024. To date, 67 million dollars of the total have been invested for improvements and adjustments to the infrastructure of its current facilities.
Since its arrival in 2016, KIA has invested 3,000 million dollars , with which they have been able to produce 1.5 million units at the plant in the municipality of Pesqueria; These vehicles are exported to more than 45 countries.
“KIA is already one of the largest investments that Mexico has had. They started with 3,000 million dollars and today they announce an addition, an expansion for 408 million dollars; this is going to bring more ships, more processes, other lines, other engines, other jobs in 2024”, highlighted the governor.
Samuel García added that Nuevo León is the ideal place for transnational companies to expand and increase their production due to movements such as nearshoring. and the proximity of the state to the US market.
To conclude, Iván Rivas, State Secretary of the Economy, mentioned that "every time we attract investments in areas that require more specialization, such as the automotive sector, and that has been possible thanks to the human capital of New Leon, the most prepared in the country," he concluded.
