Harlingen,
Texas, is opening its doors to economic development with a range of incentives
for new investors and streamlined processes for acquiring industrial land, as
highlighted by Orlando Campos, President of the Economic Development
Corporation (HEDC) in the city.
The
incentives provided by the city vary for each company and are based on the
employment opportunities they bring to the community. With ownership of several
industrial properties, the HEDC expedites procedures for locating warehouses,
manufacturing industries, and other businesses.
"In
the city of Harlingen, we offer various support tools to investors. For
example, our incentives include cash grants to help boost their businesses.
Regarding land acquisition, fortunately, the HEDC owns a significant amount of
undeveloped land that can be offered. All these properties are strategically
located with easy access to major routes," stated Campos.
Harlingen:
A Strategic Hub for Industrial and Medical Sector Development in Rio South
Texas
Situated
within the economic corridor of Rio South Texas, in Cameron County, Harlingen
enjoys direct access to the Los Indios International Bridge and the Port of
Harlingen. The city is also home to the Valley International Airport (VIA), the
only airport in the region listed among the top 75 cargo airports in the United
States.
Harlingen's
industrial parks have attracted numerous businesses and industries, with the
medical sector poised for significant growth.
Skilled
Workforce and Proximity to Suppliers
Campos
emphasized another competitive advantage of the city: a skilled and experienced
workforce in various manufacturing processes. This workforce allows the
formation of reliable service teams and encourages the arrival of new
suppliers, increasingly closer to production chains.
"Maquiladoras
are growing rapidly and require suppliers located in close proximity to their
production lines. That's why we are collaborating with Mexican organizations
such as INDEX Matamoros or Reynosa to meet all these needs," Campos
concluded.
