There are various sources of energy that are generated in the city of Reynosa, Tamaulipas, and range from wind, thermoelectric, gas production, transportation, import, storage of oil products and imported gas pipelines, items that the International Energy Cluster Tamaulipas-Texas (CLIETT), announced as part of a prosperous region that triggers million-dollar investments and encourages the arrival of new projects.
The largest wind farm in Latin America is located in this region of northeastern Mexico, Parque Eólico Reynosa , with a production of 424 MW and the installation of 123 turbines.
But there are four other wind farms currently operating on this border: El Porvenir, with 54 MW and 30 turbines; Cortijo, with 173 MW and 61 turbines; Salitrillos, with 100 MW and 30 turbines; Santa Cruz, with 138 MW and 42 installed turbines, which together with the Reynosa Wind Farm have a capacity of 899 MW and 286 turbines.
These data show a global investment of more than 1,267 million dollars .
Reynosa, Tamaulipas, is also the main producer of non-associated natural gas, with a production of 800 million cubic feet every day, an activity that is constantly growing due to the new exploration areas and surrounding areas, which allow serving the great demand that exists for natural gas in the country.
Having the main seat of the Burgos Basin , where the most important natural gas field in Mexico is located, is another advantage, since this area has 120,000 square kilometers and around 3,000 wells in operation, "the majority of them managed by the North Block N01 Integral Production Asset , complemented by others that were drilled under the protection of oil rounds”, explains the Cluster.
Regarding thermoelectric energy, the plant located in the Reynosa-Río Bravo economic corridor has an installed capacity of 520 MW.
While, in import storage and transportation of oil products through trucks and tankers, the material represents 10% of all exports made at the Reynosa-Pharr International Bridge .
The gas system in Texas, United States, has six interconnections with Reynosa, five of them directly with the integrated national transportation and storage system, and the sixth that serves as an interconnection and import point with Texas at the Arguelles station. "Precisely, it operates to reduce the load and pressure of the other intakes, all of them heading to measuring station 19, of the Burgos gas processing complex, it is worth mentioning that this system is considered the largest source of natural gas supply in the country ”, concludes the CLIETT, chaired by Constantino Castillo Hinojosa.
