Baja California generates 3,329.36 million dollars in investment highlights the arrival of manufacturing companies

In order to promote the economic and industrial development of the state of Baja California, the Secretariat of Sustainable Economy and Tourism (SEST) has promoted the attraction of investment, a key element to improve the economy in northeastern Mexico.
Currently, the state of Baja California is a region with high manufacturing potential , with the manufacture of products in the sectors of medical, electronic, automotive, electrical, metal-mechanic, furniture and aerospace devices ; coupled with sectors that are heavily exploited such as medical, aluminum, construction and housing, packaging, gastronomic, hotel, logistics, music, food and beverages .
During the period from 2019 to so far this year 2021, the region has generated an investment of 3,329.36 million dollars , which is segmented into 1,493.16 million dollars of Total Foreign Investment and 1,836.20 million dollars in Total Investment National .
Mario Escobedo Carignan, head of the SEST, declared that being close to one of the largest economies in the world, the region is positioned as the point with the best connection to the South American and Asian markets.
"Together with the geographic location, the quality of the products and services, the high productive capacity and the reactivation in the region, they are the main axes of opportunity that have encouraged the economic development of the state," he said.
Despite the global crisis caused by the pandemic, each municipality maintains a dynamic of progress:
- Tijuana - $ 2,399.72 million
- Mexicali - $ 435.89 million
- Tecate - 360 md
- Ensenada - $ 87 million
- Rosarito - $ 41 million
While the sectors that lead the investment are medical tourism with 1,081.16 million dollars; the medical device manufacturing sector with $ 428.36 million; construction and housing with $ 443.50 million; the automotive sector with $ 367.07 million, food and beverages with $ 191.04 million; and the aerospace sector with $ 148.62 million.
Finally, he highlighted that only in 2020 it closed investments such as:
- The extension of Motor Car Parts de México (MPA) with 200 million dollars
- Outset Medical invested 50 million dollars
- Prime Wheel Mexico with $ 70 million
- Walmart with 1,896 million pesos
- Medline Industries with $ 50 million
- Schneider Electric for $ 5.7 million
- Flextronics with $ 9m
In this way, Baja California seeks to be a launch point in attracting companies, which today are committed to the northwest region of Mexico.
